On the 7th of July 2011, Angelita Vargas' students, friends and some of the family members gathered to hold a first meeting to set up a volunteer group to support Angelita's stroke rehabilitation in Sevilla. Since then, the group has set up a Facebook group page and the blog "Amigos de Angelita Vargas a Favor de Su Rehabilitación" to inform others with her current status, progress, and volunteer and donation information.

Group's main mission:
To provide Angelita Vargas necessary rehabilitations and treatments to regain mobility on her right side and speech beyond what the Spanish public healthcare offers.
Group's main activities:
- Opened the bank account to receive the donation and to fund all the private rehabilitations and treatments.
- Finding and setting up appointments with appropriate private doctors and therapists.
- Finding transportation to the appointments (volunteers and/or paid services)
- Fundraising (accepting donations) only to cover the costs that are related to rehabilitations, treatments, transport to the Hospital Nisa, medications and some caretaker expenses
